Christmas cards have been sent in the UK since 1840, when postal deliveries began. Traditionally, scenes on the card were religious, but more and more the religious images are being replaced by cute images such as santas and snowmen. Each year, about 1.9 billion Christmas cards are sent by Americans, and 1 billion by Britons.
These cards can be recycled, so do watch out for recycling bins, rather than throwing them in with ordinary waste.
Since the advent of the internet, email greeting cards have become very popular. You can send FREE Christmas greeting cards via All Christmas.
